WIDENER LANDS ASSISTANT COACH WITH LONG HISTORY OF WINNING

Rock Hoffman

There are a lot of football stories out there and while most people want to read about or see stories about championship winning coaches, star quarterbacks or first-round draft picks, it doesn’t mean the stories about people who don’t fit into one of those categories are any less interesting. Such is the case with Mike […]

CONLIN LIKES GALLOPING GHOSTS’ CHANCES IN 2017

Al Thompson

When a head football coach is blessed with a few great players to work with, he must take advantage of the window of opportunity he has with them.
For Abington coach Kevin Conlin, he has the enviable job of getting the most out of first team All-State running back Darryl Davis-McNeil and linebacker/fullback Jackson Taylor who Conlin says “…is probably going to be our overall best player.”

SOUL HOST BALTIMORE BRIGADE IN HOME OPENER

Al Thompson

The Soul open their 2017 home schedule at the Wells Fargo Center Saturday night April 29 (7:00 p.m.) against the Baltimore Brigade just as the NFL will be ending its three-day draft extravaganza on the other end of town.
While the NFL is busting out in a very direction in popularity, the Arena Football League is doing its best to climb the mountain once again and be a relevant football league at the minor league level.
After years of decline, the league appears to have a solid strategy going into 2017.
Former Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will be making an appearance.

Al Thompson

Haddonfield High School head football coach Frank DeLano says he still remembers what it was like in 2014 when his Bulldawgs captured the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 Championship, blowing through the three-round tournament outscoring opponents 102-7 and finishing with a 12-0 record. FOR OFFSEASON TRAINING, NESHAMINY’S WILMOT STICKS TO BASICS … AND ONE MESSAGE

Al Thompson

Training methods are not unlike politics. Many people have different opinions on what is the right way to plot a course for positive results.
Running a football team, though, is not a democracy. The head coach sets the rules on all strategies including how to prepare his team for the upcoming season.

BALDY: EAGLES FANS HAVE EVERY RIGHT AND REASON TO DREAM

Brian Baldinger

I would like to dedicate this column to creating a dream for an Eagles fan that is not far-fetched, based in reality, and can be a catalyst for Eagle in success in 2017.
In semi-recent history the league has proven that on average there are five new playoff teams each successive year…so…

FOR LANE JOHNS0N IT IS SIMPLE: STAY ON THE FIELD AND BE THE BEST

Brian Baldinger

It was the Spring of 2013. Chip Kelly was the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and as a result the Eagles were the talk of the football universe.
At this time 32 teams had their undivided attention on the upcoming draft. What would Chip do? Skilled wideout, 3-4 outside linebacker/ pass rusher, or a dual threat quarterback to operate his warped speed no-huddle option offense?
The options for the fourth overall pick was as varied as the opinions…
