EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Daniel Jones reached a milestone on Sunday in Los Angeles, where he started his 16th career game, the equivalent of a full season. And while his record is not what he or the Giants would like it to be, his other numbers compare favorably to those of the two best quarterbacks in franchise history – Phil Simms and Eli Manning – at the same early juncture in their careers.
Jones has taken advantage of playing in an NFL in which throwing the football has become more prevalent. He has completed more passes for more yardage and more touchdowns and has a significantly higher passer rating than his Super Bowl-winning predecessors.
Jones is also a more prolific runner than both Simms and Manning.

*Jones’ 137 rushing yards are 85 more than his nearest teammate, running back Wayne Gallman. He joins Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Murray as the only NFL quarterbacks to lead their teams in rushing through the first quarter of the season.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Jones has the highest four-game rushing total by a Giants quarterback since Jeff Hostetler ran for 139 yards from Oct. 11-Nov. 1, 1992.
*Jones and Gallman tied for the team lead with 45 rushing yards apiece on Sunday against the Rams. It was the third time this season Jones led or tied for the team lead in rushing yardage, matching the total from his 2019 rookie season. Jones is the only Giants quarterback to lead the team in rushing three times in a season in the Super Bowl era.
Jones’ career total of six games with the team’s highest rushing yardage total is also the most by a Giants quarterback in the 55-season Super Bowl era.
*The Giants did not total 300 offensive yards in any of their first four games (though they twice gained 295 yards). That is their longest such streak since Dec. 15, 2013-Sept. 8, 2014. Two of those games were against the Detroit Lions. The Giants won two of the four.
*The Giants have not thrown a touchdown pass in three consecutive games, their longest streak since Oct. 28-Nov. 11, 2012, when they beat Dallas but lost to Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
*The Giants have not scored a first-half touchdown in three consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 19, 1999 – Jan. 2, 2000.
*The Giants have kicked seven consecutive field goals without scoring a touchdown for the first time since Oct. 21-27, 2013, when they defeated Minnesota and Philadelphia for their first two victories of that season.
*On Sunday, the Rams had just one accepted penalty, the lowest total by a Giants opponent since Philadelphia had one on Dec. 22, 2016. The teams combined for 25 penalty yards, the fewest in a Giants game since Oct. 1, 2017, when the Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers totaled 19.
*The Rams’ Jared Goff completed 25 of 32 passes on Sunday, a 78.1 percentage that was the most accurate performance by a Giants opponent since Detroit’s Matthew Stafford was also 25-for-32 on Oct. 27, 2019.
*Goff’s 55-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp was the longest completion allowed by the Giants since Jameis Winston and Mike Evans hooked up for a 55-yarder on Sept. 22, 2019 in Tampa.
*The Giants-Rams game was completed in two hours, 43 minutes. It was the fastest regular-season Giants game since Oct. 13, 2002, when they lost to the Atlanta Falcons in Giants Stadium in 2:38. The Giants’ 23-0 NFC Wild Card loss to Carolina on Jan. 8, 2006 took just 2:39.
