EAGLES INJURY UPDATE: HOWARD OUT, HURTS, SCOTT ARE QUESTIONABLE

Even after the loss to the New York Football Giants last Sunday, the Eagles still have a reasonable chance to run the table and grab a post season playoff spot.

The Birds (5-7) are facing the lowly New York Jets (3-8) with basically the season on the line.

It might help head coach Nick Sirianni if he knew what key players were going to be available to him for Sunday’s matchup at MetLife Stadium ( 1:00 PM CBS Network).

Sirianni knows where he stands with one player after the Eagles released their final injury report for the week: Running back Jordan Howard is out.

Listed as questionable are quarterback Jalen Hurts (ankle) and running back Boston Scott.

The rookie head coach was asked who his starting quarterback Sunday.

“We still got time to make that decision,” Sirianni said Friday. “Jalen is questionable, but we still have 48 – a little less than 48 hours to let the body heal, see what's going on even a little bit more. So, it's an unknown right now.”

Sirianni was asked How much work has Hurts been able to do this week.

“He was limited the last two days,” he said. “Obviously, with Wednesday being a walk-through, he was able to get a lot of mental reps. And all the guys were able to get a lot of mental reps, but limited the last two days.”

Sirianni did the coach-speak thing and said he was okay with whomever was under center Sunday, Hurts or Gardner Minshew.

“And so, again, I feel confident with either of the guys,” he said. “If they have to go play the way they prepared all week and went about their business.”

With Howard out, the Birds will need Scott to be near 100 percent as he can. Miles Sanders was dinged during Sunday’s loss.

That is likely why Scott got all the carries he did in the fourth quarter including his fateful fumble that ended a crucial drive with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter.

was a full participant in practice Friday.

But...will Scott play?

“Boston is questionable,” he said. “We’re still seeing how he continues to recover.”

Sirianni said Scott will be able to know the plays even if he is not in live practices.

“I'm confident, again – just with where we are in the season right now, I'm confident that if

Boston is up and ready to go, he's up and ready to go.”

Scott did not practice at all on Friday.
