EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Notes and statistics from the Giants’ 37-18 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in MetLife Stadium:

*The Giants lost their fifth consecutive game and fell to 2-7. They will be the visiting team when they face the Jets on Sunday.

*The Giants lost their sixth consecutive game to the Cowboys, their longest such streak since they lost 12 in a row from 1974-80.

*The Giants fell to 1-2 in games vs. NFC East opponents.

*The Giants are 1-4 in MetLife Stadium this season. They are 3-7 vs. the Cowboys in MetLife.

*The Giants are 25-40-1 on Monday Night Football, including 9-11 at home.

*The Giants are 12-10 since 1990 when their opponents are coming off a bye and the Giants are not.

*Dallas’ 37 points were the most allowed by the Giants since the Rams scored 51 on Nov. 5, 2017. The Giants have allowed at least 27 points in an NFL-high eight of nine games this season, and at least 31 points in five games.

*The Cowboys gained 429 yards, the fifth opponent this season to top 400 yards, matching the total for the entire 2018 season.

*Dallas’ 172 rushing yards was the second-highest total allowed by the Giants this season; Minnesota ran for 211 yards on Oct. 6.

*The Giants gained 271 yards, the fourth time in five games they finished with less than 300 yards.

*The Giants, who entered the game having scored touchdowns on 11 of 20 offensive trips into the red zone (55%), had one touchdown and four field goals in five opportunities inside the Dallas 20-yard line. *The Giants jumped ahead, 3-0, on Aldrick Rosas’ 21-yard field goal just 1:37 into the game, their first lead since a 24-3 victory vs. Washington on Sept. 29.

*The Giants’ forced a turnover on the game’s first play when safety Antoine Bethea intercepted Dak Prescott’s pass at the 15-yard line and returned it seven yards, a change of possession that led to Rosas’ 21-yard field goal.

*This was the second consecutive game – and the third time this season – the Giants’ defense came up with a takeaway on the opponent’s first offensive series. Last week in Detroit, Janoris Jenkins intercepted Matthew Stafford’s pass for Marvin Jones. But the Lions still scored first because linebacker Devon Kennard returned Daniel Jones’ fumble for a touchdown. On Sept. 29, rookie linebacker Ryan Connelly intercepted an early Case Keenum pass (that Jenkins tipped), leading to Jones’ six-yard touchdown pass to Wayne Gallman.

*Bethea’s interception was the Giants’ first takeaway on an opponent’s’ initial offensive play since Dec. 18, 2011, against Washington when cornerback Corey Webster intercepted Rex Grossman’s deep pass on a flea-flicker that was intended for Santana Moss. The Giants went three-and-out.

*Bethea’s interception was his first since he picked off two passes for the Cardinals on Dec. 24, 2017 against … the Giants. It was the 25th interception of Bethea’s 14-year career.

*Bethea recovered a Randall Cobb fumble in the second quarter that was forced by fellow safety Jabrill Peppers. It was Bethea’s second recovery of the season – he had one last week in Detroit – and the seventh of his career. Bethea is the first Giants player with an interception and a fumble recovery in the same game since Eli Apple at Pittsburgh on Dec. 4, 2016.

*The forced fumble was Peppers’ third of the season and also the third of his career.

*Daniel Jones completed 26 of 41 passes for 210 yards, one touchdown (a one-yarder to Cody Latimer) and one interception for a passer rating of 74.2. He was sacked five times for losses totaling 39 yards and lost two fumbles, including one that was returned for a touchdown.

*Jones led the Giants with a career-high 54 rushing yards (on a career-high six carries), including a 16-yarder that tied his career long.

*Saquon Barkley ran for just 28 yards on 14 carries. That tied his career-low total in a full game, set on Sept. 16, 2016 – against the Cowboys in Dallas. Barkley rushed for 10 yards on Sept. 22 at Tampa Bay before leaving the game with a sprained ankle.

*Barkley, Evan Engram and Golden Tate each had a team-high six catches. Barkley led the team with 67 receiving yards, but that included a 65-yarder, meaning he totaled two yards on his other five catches.

*Barkley’s 65-yard catch-and-run was the longest reception by a Giants running back since Oct. 3, 2016, when Paul Perkins turned a short Eli Manning pass into a 67-yard gain at Minnesota.

*Latimer scored the Giants’ only touchdown on a one-yard pass from Jones early in the second quarter. It was Latimer’s fifth career touchdown and first since Dec. 30, 2018, when he caught a 21-yard scoring pass from Manning, also in a home game vs. Dallas. *Tate set up the touchdown with a sensational one-handed catch at the left sideline with Byron Jones draped all over him. The play gained 17 yards and gave the Giants a first down at the Dallas one-yard line. Three players later, Latimer scored.  *Rosas kicked a career-high four field goals, from 21, 25, 26 and 29 yards. His previous high was three field goals, which he accomplished three times last season, most recently on Dec. 2 vs. Chicago.

*Rosas, who missed just one extra point attempt in the entire 2018 season, failed on a PAT for the second time in as many weeks when his try following the Giants’ first touchdown hit the right upright. Last week in Detroit, his PAT was wide left. Rosas is 18-for-20 this season. In 2018, he made 31 of 32 extra point attempts.

*Peppers led the Giants with 12 tackles, followed by Bethea with nine. Each was credited with seven solo stops.

*Rookie Corey Ballentine, who missed the previous two games while he was in the NFL concussion protocol, replaced Grant Haley as the nickel back and had four tackles (three solo), one quarterback hit and one pass defensed.

*The Giants did not record a sack for just the second time this season; the only other game in which they did not have a sack was their season-opening loss in Dallas.

*Leonard Williams, acquired last week in a trade with the Jets, started on the defensive front and had three tackles (one solo) and one quarterback hit.

*Tight end Blake Jarwin scored Dallas’ first touchdown on a short pass from Prescott that he turned in to a 42-yard score. Jarwin has scored six career touchdowns – five against the Giants.

*Amari Cooper (45 yards) and Michael Gallup (15 yards) also scored on passes from Prescott, who threw for seven scores in two games vs. the Giants this season. Prescott has thrown 17 career touchdown passes vs. the Giants.

*Jourdan Lewis scored Dallas’ final touchdown on a 63-yard return of a Jones fumble with six seconds remaining in the game. It was the second week in a row and the third time in four games an opponent scored on a fumble return vs. the Giants. Kennard did it last week in Detroit, and New England’s Kyle Van Noy scored on a 22-yard return on Oct. 10.

*Lewis’ 63-yard fumble return was the longest by a Giants opponent since Philadelphia’s Walter Thurmond scored on an 83-yarder on Jan. 3, 2016, the game in which Pat Shurmur was the Eagles’ interim head coach.

*The Giants’ inactive players were wide receiver Sterling Shepard (concussion), defensive tackle RJ McIntosh, linebackers Chris Peace and Devante Downs, offensive linemen Chad Slade and Eric Smith, and quarterback Alex Tanney.

*The Giants wore throwback uniforms from 1980-99, which included white shirts and pants with blue and red stripes, a “GIANTS” helmet decal instead of the familiar “ny,” and white facemasks replacing the customary gray.
