DEVIN SMITH, THE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

No. 5 Villanova (2-0) opens CAA play by hosting Towson (1-1) on Saturday. Wildcats’ wide receiver Devin Smith, a graduate student who transferred from North Carolina Central, had a pair of touchdowns catches as part of a six-catch, 116-yard day in the ‘Cats 28-3 win at Colgate. For his efforts, he was named the Football Stories Offensive Player of the Week.

Last Saturday, Delaware Valley (1-0) started a new era with Mike Isgro as the head coach, but

the Aggies still played their tough brand of defense as they took the ball away four times in a 41-21 win at Hampden-Sydney. Defensive lineman Jacquez Mabin led the charge with 13 tackles with five for a loss, including a pair of sacks. He forced a fumble and picked one up which he took 13 yards for a score.  Mabin, a senior from Penn Wood High School, is the Football Stories Defensive Player of the Week.
